vessel (Urban &Rural )

My work is about capturing beauty in the chaos of nature and the simplicity of literal places like the home.It also extends to the earth, nature the urban environment and buildings and how they co-exist.
Pencil is my primary medium, ink, charcoal and collage and watercolour.Living in both urban and rural environments informs the work as does my love of nature.
My drawings capture the mundane and the obvious. They focus on detail, simplicity and subtlety.The concept of the house as a vessel informs my practices as does respecting and preserving what we have in both city landscape and rural dwellings.
My practice is influenced by artists Rachel Whiteread, Taboo-Khedoori, Kathy Pendergast as well as my parents and fellow students.
