From the series Portrayal after.... large format portrait of Jude Hughes in homage to the visual legacy of human rights activist Frederick Douglass. Jude grew up in an industrial school and began to take an interest in anti-apartheid and civil rights. Out of that rose the interest in Harmony of which he was a founding member in 1986. Harmony campaigned in Ireland for the introduction of a comprehensive race relations act to endeavour to create an environment conducive to racial harmony and equality. According to Jude it is essential to judge people on their ability and not the colour of their skin. This is a very good quality large print. Different quality to the triptych of Jude. The image was scanned again and has a special tone for Black and White photography. Our tutor David Monaghan suggested showing this with some smaller works on a shelf.
