Legacy II

Found object, paper, wax

Following on from my preparatory sketch (Legacy) I created this sculptural exploration using the original box the utility bills were stored in. I recreated versions of the bills by cutting and folding paper using the same dimensions and structure as the original but this time the paper is blank. Dipped in molten wax and folded, the piece was then assembled to reflect the chaotic nature of a lot of these boxes. The fragility of the wax means it gradually flakes away, echoing the fragmentation of this archive and the loss of context and understanding of the objects it contains.
