I Examined the feeling of being trapped in bed due to illness or life circumstances. I Considered the restricted lives of queens and princesses and the women of high society of times gone by, While Exploring the meaning behind The Princess and the Pea, a tale which focuses on a woman's physical comfort.
I Created a Princess and the Pea style four poster bed with layers of luxurious mattresses. Each mattress represents a different aspect of pain. I Used a mixture of hand embroidery, machine and free machine embroidery. I Incorporated a rich palette of colour that signifies royalty and luxury while exploring the different aspects of the body with Chronic Pain.
